Peregrinations & Mirror of Infinity 3.0

February 22nd, 2010 § 0

The perception of landscape and sense of place or location has, in the last decade, undergone many changes.

It is now possible to visit the Mongolian village, to look at its terrain, its panoramas and communicate with local people in real time while being on a train from Lyon to London. It is now possible to browse others people snapshots of places and explore the world through their eyes. Platforms such as Google Earth, Flickr, Facebook or instant communication messaging systems altered our global awareness – boundaries between geographical, personal and temporal zones are blurred.

Three different spaces, two exhibitions and one artist . . .

Combining traditional forms and computational media, London based artist Kasia Molga attempts to address some of these issues by using art to metaphorically and literally engage viewers in a dialogue with hyperlinked landscapes. Using a newly conceptualized public library space – the Idea Stores of Tower Hamlets borough in London – she exhibits both a selection of web linked landscapes using traditional materials and exhibits a digital interactive installation, “Mirror of Infinity 3.0” which can be viewed and experienced in two places at the same time and participate in collaborative “online” creation

For a first time one of the old interactive installation will be shown in a very public environment of Canary Wharf in two different places. The new updated better version of the “Mirror of Infinity” will be there for at least two weeks. Prior to that there will be a show of sketches and prints created before making this installation. It will aim to demonstrate a bridge between the traditional and digital practice. All artworks will be available to purchase on the site as well as online (coming soon).

The big solo show of drawings and paintings is planned for March 2010 in The Gambia. All details will be available at the beginning of the new year.

“Floresta 1.0″ in Museum of Image and Sound

November 11th, 2009 § 0

“Floresta 1.0” will be exhibited from 12.11.09 till 16.11.09 at Museum of Image and Sound at Av. Europa in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The Private View is held on the 11th of November at 17.00.

“Floresta 1.0” is a new interactive digital art installation attempting to depict and express concepts of collective responsibility, presence and collaboration.

“Floresta” becomes a meeting point for members of communities, who together are united in the experience of keeping this garden “alive” by interacting with it via their mobile phones. The content of text messages sent by viewers can inspire and teach, so that not only they contribute with new plants to a garden, but also to a pool of knowledge.

The artwork wouldn’t happen without the generous and creative help of a team of programmers and designers: Davor Delija, Turlif and Pawel Borkowski.

“Floresta 1.0” is a first version from the “Floresta” series which will conclude with a major event held simultaneously in UK and Brazil.
